FLOAT INSPIRED CREATIVITY

“CONNECTION TO THE FLOATING SELF”

Floating; it opened me up

To the little spaces.

Being okay without being okay.

Inspired exploration;

To those little spaces.

An invitation to a new form of expression.

A familiar canvas turned discovery;

A material sketch emerges.

A symbol of the little spaces,

That connects the void that floats beneath.

Meet DOMINIQUE LABELLE

Relatively new to the artist community, Dominique Labelle started painting and drawing in 2010. She never expected that shortly after, she would start a career tattooing. She had been working at Gypsy Rose Tattoo & Piercing for nearly 5 years as a body piercer before she began her tattoo apprenticeship under Nina Gremo. Since then, Dominique has been working hard to find her voice and style in the art world with endless encouragement from her peers and finding inspiration in her surroundings.
Her styles include pointillism and mandalas, but doesn't limit herself to them. She loves to expand and explore different subject matters and put her own spin on things. She finds therapy in creating and loves being able to connect with others through her work.

You can find Dom at Gypsy Rose Tattoo

THE INFINITE

Floating is the calming space I forever seek and forever struggle to keep.

It is the duality.

Katie Green collab - web.jpg

MEET KATIE GREEN

Katie is a visual artist whose practice addresses nature as a crossroad for developing concepts of growth, death, adaptation, cooperation, and perhaps most importantly, our emotional and physical selves. More than something to be understood and subjectified, for Green nature is a space and opportunity for questioning. Primarily focusing on works on paper, Green uses acrylic, watercolour, and drawing to create artworks in a multitude of sizes. Taking her practice outside the studio, Green also engages in larger public mural work,  encouraging interactive, connected communities.

 “THE IN BETWEEN”

Floating created a conversation with my body and emotions.  A dialogue to create space; a moment for self and to be patient for the part in between the voice and clarity.

Meet Nina

NINA is a tattooer, piercer, drawer (not the dresser type), sometimes painter, amateur floater, mother, den mother, and omnipotent overseer at Gypsy Rose Tattoos & Piercing.

 “HAUNTING”

So many constant demands for my time; restless awareness into the black, this space is welcomed.

Are you leading the idea or are you stuck inside your head and can’t tell. How much power does the mind have over the body.

A realistic piece emerges without reference and requiring strong visualization. It is beautifully undefined. It is starting to be realized. It is my haunting.
